Cardiac health

High blood pressure usually has no symptoms, but may increase the risk of having a stroke or heart attack.

Blood pressure

You can lower your blood pressure with a healthy lifestyle and by taking medication if advised to do so by your clinician.

Know your numbers: If you don't know your blood pressure or are concerned, you can access free testing at your pharmacy, GP, or during your Safe and Well visit. Or you can use a home monitor.

Visit bloodpressureuk.org for more information.

Atrial fibrillation

Atrial fibrillation is a heart condition that causes an irregular and often abnormally fast heart rate.

Atrial fibrillation is one of the most common forms of abnormal heart rhythm and a major cause of stroke.

Happy Hearts estimates that around 60,000 people across Cheshire and Merseyside are affected, with 12,000 of them not yet diagnosed. If left undetected, heart conditions can lead to medical episodes that may increase the risk of fire at home, so we offer simple checks during our Safe and Well visits to spot potential issues early and help keep you safe.

If you are concerned about your heart, always speak to your GP as early as possible.
