- Bio-ethanol burners

Bioethanol is a highly flammable liquid used in fireplaces and lanterns. These appliances do not need a chimney and are often portable, which can increase the risk of fire if fuel is spilled or handled incorrectly.
Take extra care when using and refuelling bioethanol burners.
Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
Allow at least 10 minutes for the appliance to cool before refuelling.
Use a funnel to avoid spills when filling the burner.
Clean up any spilled fuel before lighting.
Fit smoke alarms in your home to give you early warning of fire and test them weekly.
If your burner becomes unsafe or cannot be switched off by the controls:
Never use water, as it can spread the flames.
Do not try to move it while lit, you risk injury or spreading the fire.
Get out and close doors behind you.
Stay out and call 999.
Stop, drop and roll to put out the flames.
